New Multi-storey Development planned for Redcliffe Parade

There are long-term plans for the old Crazy Clarks building in Redcliffe Parade to be demolished to make way for a multi-storey, upmarket development.

Plans include for 270 carparks, plus commercial and residential spaces. But the DA has to be approved before any work can proceed — a long procedure. The 1200 sqm space is currently used for the Indoor Markets, a mix of clothing, handmade jewellery, accessories, and teddies which is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The general consensus is that locals hope that any new development will be an improvement in this Redcliffe frontage. Dennis Austen of Mister Real Estate says “it could be more than five years away before anything major happens”. This is because 50% of the project has to be sold before the finance is approved to build it.

The outside wall adjoining this large space and the Jetty Arcade is to have street art painted on it, and tendering for this is now taking place.
