Recognition Award in Moreton Bay Environment

0

On November 4th, Richard Lancaster presented the Mavis Filmer award to the Cannon Family for their remarkable work in the protection of wildlife in Moreton Bay. All Seaside Arts Hub members present applauded this recognition.

Richard pronounced that Ray and Angie Cannon and their daughter have played a vital and prominent role in funding Dugong safety activities and making locals and visitors aware of the impact that us humans have on both the beach and in the bay. There are 5,000 members in the Dugong Society, which they helped form. You can often see the family selling beautiful trinkets that represent the Dugong’s plight, on a stall on Redcliffe Parade.

The form of one of the awards, made by Redcliffe Trophies, is a cute 3 Meerkats trophy.

Mavis Filmer took over running of the Filmers Palace Hotel from 1964 to 2002, and so is a vital part of history in Redcliffe.
